My Experience with angr 9.3.0

I installed angr, a powerful open-source Python framework for binary analysis and symbolic execution. It lets me automatically explore different execution paths in a program without needing real inputs for every case.

How I Installed It

I created a virtual environment and installed the stable version:

python3 -m venv ~/angr-env
source ~/angr-env/bin/activate
pip install angr

I also installed the Unicorn engine for better emulation support.

What I Used It For

  • Loading binaries and inspecting architecture / entry points
  • Building Control Flow Graphs (CFG) and listing functions
  • Performing symbolic execution to automatically find inputs that reach specific outputs (e.g. cracking a simple password check)

It pairs well with the other tools I’ve been using (Ghidra, IDA Free, and GDB/GEF).
