Today I took another step forward with my website ny2honolulu.com.
I successfully added a subtle wind animation to the palm trees in the hero section using pure CSS. The trees now gently sway, giving the homepage a calm, living, tropical feel without being too distracting.
It was a bit nerve-wracking at first (I had to paste code into WordPress Customizer), but it worked! The effect is very subtle — exactly how I wanted it. It gives a nice peaceful Honolulu night vibe.
What I Learned Today:
- How to safely add custom CSS to a WordPress site
- Using @keyframes for smooth animations
- The importance of testing changes carefully on a live site
The site feels more alive now. Small improvements like this really add personality.
Still very much a beginner, but slowly making my personal site reflect the vibe I want — calm, intelligent, and Hawaiian.
Next goals: Keep improving the site and continue learning React / Next.js.
